A genuinely French experience, not just a place to sleep
There is something quite particular about staying in a building that has been standing since the 16th century, that belonged to Benedictine monks for several hundred years, that survived cannon fire during the Wars of Vendée in 1793, and that has been in the same family since 1841. It is not a themed experience, it is not reconstructed. It is simply an old French manor house that happens to be available for private rental.
In many ways, staying here gives you a taste of what Puy du Fou celebrates so brilliantly in its shows: the depth of French history, the weight of old stone, the quiet beauty of the bocage countryside. You experience it from the inside rather than from a grandstand. Breakfasting in a listed 17th-century dining room, picking apples from an orchard that has been there for generations, playing pétanque under century-old trees in an enclosed private park. That is the spirit of the place.
The manor has been listed as a Historic Monument since 2006 (ref. PA79000031). Its façades, roofs and interior staircase are protected by the French Ministry of Culture. It has been in our family for nearly two centuries.
What the manor offers practically
The estate comprises two independent buildings on more than 2 hectares of enclosed private grounds. The main manor, built in the 16th and 17th centuries, has its original stone staircase, large reception rooms and a fully equipped professional kitchen. The renovated farmhouse operates independently with its own kitchens, bedrooms and living space, ideal for a second family or a group that wants its own territory.
For stays with service staff, a private chef or baby-sitter, the farmhouse can also accommodate the team if needed.
Facilities include a large private pool with a stone pool house, a private tennis court, a pétanque court, a wood-fired oven (with a pizzaiolo available on request), a swing set, a kitchen garden and an orchard. Rabbits roam freely through the park, which tends to delight younger guests.
Puy du Fou from the manor
The park is a 20-minute drive from Mauléon. That is close enough to visit comfortably each day, come back for lunch if you wish, and return for the evening shows without it being an ordeal. The Cinéscénie, the great night show with 2,700 actors across 23 hectares, typically ends late. Having a proper house to come back to, rather than a hotel room, makes the end of those evenings considerably more pleasant.
For groups staying a full week, Puy du Fou typically occupies two or three days. The rest of the time, the region offers the Oriental Park of Maulevrier, one of the largest Japanese gardens in Europe, just 10 minutes away, the Green Venice of the Marais Poitevin at 45 minutes, the Atlantic coast at one hour, and the Futuroscope at one hour. There is no shortage of things to do.
Who comes to stay
Most of our guests are large family groups, several families travelling together, or extended family reunions. The two independent buildings work particularly well for groups where everyone wants to be together but also have their own space. Some groups use the manor for significant celebrations, milestone birthdays or family gatherings that deserve a setting with real character.
We also welcome residential seminars for teams that want to work and dine together in an environment that feels genuinely different from a conference hotel. A professional kitchen, a chef on request, 11 bedrooms and 2 hectares of private grounds tend to produce rather good results for that kind of gathering.

Is the manor an official Puy du Fou partner?
No, we are an independent property. You purchase your Puy du Fou tickets separately, which gives you complete freedom over your itinerary. Many of our guests prefer this flexibility.
What is the minimum rental period?
We work primarily on weekly rentals, Saturday to Saturday. Shorter stays may be possible outside peak season and are considered case by case.
Is there staff on site?
The manor is self-catered, but we can arrange a private chef, baby-sitter, driver and daily housekeeping on request. All linen is provided.
How do you get there from the UK?
The most convenient option is to fly to Nantes (direct flights from several UK airports), then drive one hour to Mauléon. Alternatively, Eurostar to Paris then TGV to Nantes (2 hours) and one hour by car. The journey from London takes around 5 to 6 hours door to door.
Is English spoken?
Yes, we communicate in English and can help you organise all aspects of your stay.
